Miami Dolphins' Jarvis Landry helps build new playground at Middle River Terrace Park

About 3,000 children in neighborhood can now enjoy playground

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - Miami Dolphins wide receiver Jarvis Landry joined more than 180 volunteers from Target and the community to build a new playground at Middle River Terrace Park in Fort Lauderdale.

The playground was built through Target and KaBOOM!'s partnership with help from Landry, Fort Lauderdale Parks and Recreation and the Middle River Terrace Neighborhood Association.

"You know, personally, it kept me out of trouble. So, to have a place like this where they can come and hide away for a little bit and play and be active, it's really huge," Landry said.

About 3,000 children in the community will now be able to enjoy the playground.

The closest playground in the area is currently 0.8 miles away and children in the neighborhood would have to cross a major highway to get there.

"We're excited to help build a playground in this community which will help nearly 3,000 area kids have access to a safe and inspirational playground so they can have fun and be active," Target District team leader Alexandra Stanton said. "Our team members love to get out and support things that matter most to them and to our guests."

The partnership's goal is to make it easier for the neighborhood children to get balanced and active play that is free and easily accessible.

"To have the opportunity to give back, you know, to help children out, to help save a life, means everything," Jarvis said.
